Jenny brings over 1000 hours of teaching experience and is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered Yoga Instructor (E-RYT). She founded Yoga Within You Yoga Retreats (yogawithinyou.com) in 2013 and has partnered with a number of amazing yoga instructors from the North Shore area.
A ballerina and gymnast, Jenny was drawn to yoga to balance her fitness routine. Competitive by nature, Jenny admits to being obsessed with perfecting every pose. In 2006, as a contestant on CBS’s Survivor, Jenny had an experience that changed her life and yoga dramatically:
"On my 23rd day on Survivor, I was so lonely and exhausted that I just wanted to throw in the towel. Distraught, I found a secluded area and began meditating and practicing asanas. When I woke from my savasana, I had an epiphany. I realized that yoga isn’t about being competitive or looking a certain way. For the first time, I FELT my yoga."
With this new found connection to her mind, body, and spirit through yoga, Jenny returned home committed to sharing her experience of practicing yoga that day on Survivor. Shortly thereafter, she completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification training.
As an instructor, her goal is to give her students a yoga practice that is both vigorous and calming. In all her classes, she strives to pair the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga while adjusting instruction to the level of each student. Her goal is that students leave her class feeling uplifted, peaceful, and strong and for them to carry those feelings into every aspect of their lives.
Jenny reports that her yoga practice has brought countless positive changes to her life. She believes that yoga offers a path of self-discovery and the opportunity to continually transform oneself while strengthening one's connections to what is truly important.
