Our Flow Foundations is an ongoing series that is suitable both for those new to yoga as well as those wanting to elevate their existing yoga practice. The series is taught by Peggy Talbot, RYT, a 200-hour Shri Yoga Certified Registered Yoga Teacher, in a semi-private style that is limited in size to ensure personalized instruction. The series will build on lessons learned in prior weeks and will prepare you to step confidently into almost any of Shri’s classes.

Flow Foundations

"Flow Foundations" classes take place Tuesday evenings from 7:15-8:30pm! This all levels class will offer a weekly focus on the fundamental poses of yoga and is perfect for those coming back to their practice, those new to yoga, or athletes seeking to utilize yoga as a way to stay strong and flexible in their other athletic passions like paddle, tennis, golf, cross fit, or strength training.

Flow Foundations will enable participants to understand the intent and benefits of yoga, become familiar with core poses, and feel confident joining other group classes. Each week will have a specific focus. See below for examples. The weekly class will also incorporate other aspects of yoga - balancing poses with work, heat, and strength.

Flow Foundations Sample Curriculum

Week 1: The keys to yoga - sun salutations, vinyasa, and core poses

Week 2: Flowing into strength and flexibility with standing poses

Week 3: Using the benefits of twisting and stretching for balance and length

Week 4: Yoga for a stronger back and core

Week 5: Going upside down: the benefits of inverting and building strength with breath

Vinyasa Yoga is a fluid sequence of asanas (poses) and is the most widely practiced and familiar style of yoga. The practice involves synchronizing the breath with movement. Regularly practicing this style of yoga will build strength and flexibility.
